Low impact on the high seas?

Some time ago, I received a couple of suggestions for new additions to this site. After pondering, I find that I’m just totally unqualified to comment on them. But I figured I might as well pass these along anyway.

The first is a book called Sea-Steading by Jerome FitzGerald. The second is a website for a group called The Oar Club. Both deal with self-sufficiency and low input living by sea.

Other than a few trips on my uncle’s sailboat, a rare canoe or kayaking excursion, and an affection for the Aubrey-Maturin series of books, I have no knowledge of life on the water.
