The world is turning upside-down

Let me just quote from two sources. They are often of different opinions, but this one struck me.
First, Sharon Astyk at Casaubon’s Book: “Do not start panic buying food, especially rice.”
Second, from Brett Arends at the Wall Street Journal: “I don’t want to alarm anybody, but maybe it’s time for Americans to start stockpiling food.”
Yes, that’s right. Sharon’s voice is the one urging a calm, business as usual response, and the Wall Street Journal saying, “No, this is not a drill.”
We have officially crossed the Rubicon.
